Color Spectrum Network Installs Bobst Alpina II,
Enhances Capabilities and Efficiency
Marietta, Georgia – Color Spectrum Network has added their second Bobst Folder-Gluer in less than nine months. The Alpina II 110 G+S Matic will be Color Spectrum’s fourth Bobst folding line and joins their Media 100 II A2, Alpina 110 A3 and the Mistral 110 A2 CS which was installed last year.
Gil Bonilla, Color Spectrum Network’s President and CEO, stated that the Alpina II will provide his company with the ability to take on a wide range of new work. “Now there really isn’t any folding task that we can’t take on and easily master. The capabilities of this new folder-gluer give our sales force confidence in the marketplace because we now have the ability to handle just about any degree of complication. It also lets us run many of the jobs we currently run faster.” Continued Bonilla, “This is very important to Color Spectrum because while we’re known for our creativity and quality, we’ve also developed quite a following for our short turnaround times.” Color Spectrum Network’s turnaround goal is seven calendar days from order placement to the customer’s dock. “As the world’s most capable production folder-gluer, the Alpina II gives us a great efficiency advantage as well. The Gyrobox and the two Combi units allow us to take jobs that were, or would be, two and three pass jobs and do them in a single pass,” adds Bonilla, “The CNC control system greatly reduces set-up times, especially on re-occurring jobs.” Available in four standard models (A1 through A4), the Alpina II will meet most manufacturing requirements. However, the modular design of the Alpina II allows it to be easily configured to meet the converter’s unique requirements. Color Spectrum’s Alpina II includes the Gyrobox (G) and a Special configuration (S) which allows Color Spectrum to maximize the versatility and efficiency of the folding operation. The modular design also allows the folder-gluer to accept additional features or be reconfigured to take advantage of changing markets or product mixes.
The “S”, special configuration gives Color Spectrum the ability to fold and glue regular and reinforced crash-lock bottoms, 4-corners with and without lids, 6-corners, as well as many other types of designs. Specialty designs utilize the Gyrobox to pivot work 90 degrees during the folding process enabling the widest possible range of cartons, folders and custom designs. For enhanced quality control, Color Spectrum Network’s Alpina II includes 8 glue scanners to control upper glue application, a glue pot scanner for flap application and a flipper ejector for automatic ejection of faulty samples at any speed. This folder-gluer is also code reader capable.
